Our partner, Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB) Response, was launched as an emergency effort under the Incident Command System (ICS) after CRB was first detected on Oʻahu in 2013.

    •    Through Act 236, the program has funding and authority to provide resources directly to the community.

    •    They officially have two CRB Response people who just started here in Kaua’i.

    •    Knowledge is power. Tell your ‘ohana, friends and neighbors about the new CRB Response Community Resource Program on Kaua‘i.

    •    CRB spreads primarily through unmanaged green waste and the movement of infested material. Take your green waste to the transfer station ASAP, and net it in the meantime.

    •    Community-wide efforts are critical. CRB infects an area not just a single property, so it takes an entire neighborhood to effectively reduce CRB populations in their area. Talk to your neighbors!

    •    Even if you don’t have palms or green waste at your house, you can set up a panel trap or a DIY trap in your backyard for just a few bucks to monitor CRB populations and help reduce CRB in your neighborhood.

Report CRB, larvae, tree damage sightings and trap issues to https://www.crbhawaii.org/report or (808) 679-5244
